A Note from Fr. Sebastian!

Fr Sebastian.png

This weekend we celebrate the Sixth Sunday of Easter, where in our first reading from the Acts of the Apostles we hear how the Holy Spirit fell upon those listening to the words of St. Peter. Those of you attending the 5:00 p.m. Vigil Mass welcomed Bishop Pohlmeier who celebrated the sacrament of Confirmation with four of our youth; Grace Amato, Peyton Disbrow, Sophie Huene, and Madison Welz. On Sunday, during our 11:30 a.m. Mass, five children will receive their First Holy Communion: Corey Dawson, Andrew Gerard, Aurora Guerrero, Micaela Lopez, and Elijah McDaniel. Please keep these and all our children in your prayers that by the grace of the sacraments their faith may grow stronger each day. I’d also like to acknowledge our Director of Religious Education, Kim Goodman, along with our entire team of dedicated teachers who
shepherd our children in their knowledge of their faith. I also wish to thank all those who worked hard to provide a beautiful reception after each of these events.
In today’s Gospel our Lord tells us of his love for us, even calling us his friends as we keep his commandments so that our joy may be complete. The foremost of these commandments is that we love one another as Our Lord loves us. May all of us serve as examples of what it means to love one another as we allow the grace of the sacraments to work in our lives.
Please mark your calendars for Saturday, May 18, when Mr. Joseph West, Director for Evangelization for the Diocese of St. Augustine will join us to help launch a five-week program here at St. Madeleine on how we can become better missionary disciples in our community. Bishop Pohlmeier is a strong supporter of this initiative, which is intended to equip everyone, especially ministry leaders, with the tools necessary to spread our faith. We begin with Mass at 9:00 a.m. in the Shrine followed by a light breakfast in the Parish Hall before by Mr. West’s presentation. The program should finish by noon. Lunch will also be served, giving everyone time to meet Mr. West for further discussion. Please make every effort to join us!
Remember that Saturday, May 11, is our next parish Bingo in the Parish Hall. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the game begin at 6:30 p.m. Our Parish Bingo is a time for fun and Christian fellowship with all proceeds going to support our Capital Campaign. Sunday, May 12 is Mother’s Day. If you can, bring your mother to Bingo on her special day!
May God continue to bless all of you abundantly during this Easter Season!

Florida Bishops Oppose Extreme Abortion Amendment

Vote No on Amendment 4
Florida Amendment 4, which will appear on Florida’s November 2024 ballot, is an extreme proposal that legalizes full-term abortion with no protections for the preborn child. The amendment would effectively overturn or seriously jeopardize common-sense state laws that have regulated abortion for years. !

Florida's STATISTICS are startling!

  1. The NUMBER of Abortions in Florida in 2023 was more than 84,000 - just ONE year!

  2. Almost 10% of Abortions in Florida are provided to mothers from other states.

  3. ABORTION is the #1 Cause of Death in Florida!

  4. 1 out of 4 Pregnancies in Florida end in Abortion!

Dear Family for LIFE,

The Church Teaches that Abortion is a GRAVE Crime

"Infanticide [Emphasis added], fratricide, parricide, and the murder of a spouse are especially grave crimes [Emphasis added] by reason of the natural bonds which they break." (CCC 2268)

Why is ABORTION the Most Egregious Sin Against Mankind?

  1. The Unborn is the most VULNERABLE of all mankind.

  2. The parent, the abortionist, and the abortion providers DELIBERATELY PLAN the death of the Unborn DEFENSELESS and INNOCENT child.

  3. A person PAYS someone to kill the Unborn child.

  4. There are MULTIPLE PARTICIPANTS: the mother, the driver, if one, the abortionist, all of the clinic employees, and any persons with whom the mother has shared her news.

  5. There are MULTIPLE VICTIMS: the INNOCENT Unborn child, his mother, his father, his grandparents, his siblings, his PROGENY who will never be AND his PROGENY'S PROGENY who will never be!
